Privacy Policy
Last updated: May 1, 2026
This Privacy Policy describes how Joseph Swog LLC ("we," "us," "our," or "Clipd") collects, uses, and shares information when you use the Clipd mobile application and the website at runclipd.co (together, the "Service"). Clipd is a marketplace that connects content creators ("Creators") with people who edit and post short-form clips of that content ("Clippers"). Creators run paid campaigns; Clippers post clips on TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube and earn from views.
If you do not agree with this Privacy Policy, please do not use the Service.
1. Information We Collect
We collect three categories of information.
1.1 Information you give us directly
When you create an account, set up your profile, or use the Service, you provide us with:
- Account information — email address, password (stored hashed by our authentication provider), display name, and the role you sign up as (Creator, Clipper, or Manager).
- Profile information — profile photo, bio, and any other details you choose to add.
- Linked social accounts — when you verify ownership of a TikTok, Instagram, or YouTube account, you provide us with the handle, the profile URL, and any verification material (such as a screenshot or short verification video) needed to demonstrate ownership.
- Campaign and submission content — campaign descriptions, cover images, payout rules, source-content links, submitted clip URLs, and messages you exchange through in-app chat.
- Support communications — if you email us at support@runclipd.co or use the in-app support flow, we receive whatever information you choose to share.
- Payment information — to receive earnings, Clippers may provide a PayPal email address. To pay clippers, Creators (or their designated Manager) use their own PayPal account directly outside the Service. Clipd itself does not process, hold, or transfer money. We store the PayPal email you choose to associate with your account so it can be displayed to the party paying or receiving from you. We do not store any password, banking, or card information for any payment service. If a future version of the Service offers in-app payment processing, we will update this Privacy Policy and notify you before that change takes effect.
1.2 Information we collect automatically when you use the Service
- Device and technical information — device model, operating system version, language, time zone, app version, and a unique device identifier issued by the operating system or the build framework that powers the app (Expo).
- Usage information — which screens you visit, which campaigns you view or submit to, when you sign in and sign out, and similar product analytics. We use this to understand how the Service is used and to improve it.
- Crash and error reports — when the app crashes or encounters an error, we may collect a stack trace, the actions you took before the error, and basic device information so that we can diagnose and fix the issue.
- Log data — IP address, request timestamps, and similar information automatically generated when your device communicates with our servers.
1.3 Information we collect from third parties
- Public engagement metrics — when you submit a clip, we periodically fetch public engagement data (such as view count, like count, post status, and similar metrics) for that clip from TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube. We do this to verify view thresholds for payout calculations. We only collect metrics for content you have submitted to a Clipd campaign.
- Public profile data — when you verify ownership of a social account, we may collect public profile information from the platform you are verifying (such as follower count and recent post count) to help confirm the account is real and active.
We do not collect information from data brokers or buy datasets to enrich your profile.
2. How We Use Information
We use the information described above to:
- Operate the Service — create your account, host campaigns, route submissions, calculate earnings, and run any payout logic.
- Verify clipper account ownership and prevent fraud, scams, and account takeover.
- Track view counts on submitted clips and calculate the resulting earnings.
- Send you transactional communications — account confirmations, submission status updates, payout notifications, password resets, and similar messages directly tied to your use of the Service.
- Respond to support requests and resolve disputes between Creators and Clippers.
- Diagnose bugs, monitor performance, and improve the Service.
- Enforce our Terms of Service and protect the safety of users.
- Comply with legal obligations and respond to lawful requests.
We do not use your information for advertising or sell access to it. We do not share your account data with advertising networks.
3. How We Share Information
We share information only as described below.
3.1 With service providers
We use third-party service providers to operate the Service. These providers process information on our behalf and are contractually bound to use it only for the purposes we direct. Current providers include:
- Supabase — database hosting and authentication.
- Google Cloud Run — hosting for the backend service that fetches public engagement data from social platforms.
- Apple App Store and Google Play — distribution of the app itself; subject to their own privacy practices.
- Sentry (or equivalent) — crash and error reporting (when integrated; if not yet integrated, this provider will be added with notice).
- Cloudflare Email Routing — to receive and deliver email sent to support@runclipd.co.
Payments between Creators and Clippers happen directly on PayPal, outside the Service. Clipd does not transmit money or share user data with PayPal as a service provider; the parties to the payment use PayPal under their own accounts. If a future version of the Service introduces in-app payment processing (for example, via Stripe), we will add the processor to this list, update this Privacy Policy, and notify users before that happens.
3.2 With other users
Some information you provide is intentionally shared with other users of the Service:
- Your display name, profile photo, role, and verified social handles are visible to other users in contexts where the Service shows clipper or creator profiles (campaign cards, leaderboards, submission lists, chat threads).
- Campaign details posted by Creators are visible to Clippers browsing the marketplace.
- Submission details posted by Clippers are visible to the Creator who owns the campaign.
- Chat messages are visible to the parties in the chat.
Your email address, phone number (if any), password, and private support messages are not shared with other users.
3.3 With public social platforms
When we fetch public engagement data from TikTok, Instagram, or YouTube on a clip you submitted, we send the clip URL or post identifier to those platforms. This is the same information you posted publicly there.
3.4 For legal reasons
We may disclose information if we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to:
- Comply with a law, regulation, subpoena, court order, or other lawful government request.
- Enforce our Terms of Service or investigate violations.
- Protect the rights, property, or safety of Clipd, our users, or others.
- Detect, prevent, or address fraud, security, or technical issues.
3.5 In a business transfer
If we are involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred to the successor entity. We will provide notice before your information becomes subject to a different privacy policy.
4. How Long We Keep Information
We keep your information for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the Service. Specific retention periods:
- Account information — until you delete your account, then deleted within 30 days, except where we are legally required to retain it (e.g., for tax records related to past payouts).
- Campaign and submission content — kept for the life of the account; may be retained in anonymized form after account deletion to maintain leaderboard and historical campaign integrity.
- Crash and error logs — typically 30–90 days, depending on the provider's defaults.
- Support communications — kept as long as needed to resolve the matter, typically up to 24 months.
5. How We Protect Information
We use commercially reasonable technical and organizational safeguards to protect information, including encryption in transit (HTTPS), encryption at rest (handled by our hosting provider), access controls on internal systems, and database row-level security.
No method of transmission or storage is fully secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security. If we learn of a security breach affecting your information, we will notify you and take steps required by applicable law.
6. Your Rights and Choices
6.1 In-app controls
- Edit your profile — at any time from the Profile screen.
- Unlink a social account — from the Verification screen.
- Delete your account — from the Profile screen. Deletion is processed within 30 days. (Some information may be retained as described in Section 4.)
- Opt out of non-essential email — by following the unsubscribe link in any non-transactional email we send. We will continue to send transactional emails (account confirmations, payout notices) as long as your account is active.
6.2 Rights for California residents
If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA), gives you the following rights:
- Right to know — what categories and specific pieces of personal information we have collected about you, and the sources, purposes, and recipients.
- Right to delete — your personal information, subject to certain exceptions (such as information we must retain for legal compliance).
- Right to correct — inaccurate personal information we hold about you.
- Right to opt out of "sale" or "sharing" — Clipd does not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. There is no opt-out to exercise here, but we disclose this in compliance with the law.
- Right to limit use of sensitive personal information — Clipd does not use sensitive personal information beyond what is necessary to provide the Service.
- Right to non-discrimination — we will not deny service, charge different prices, or provide different quality of service because you exercised a privacy right.
To exercise these rights, email support@runclipd.co from the email address associated with your account, or use the in-app account-deletion flow. We will verify your identity before responding. We aim to respond within 45 days, with a possible 45-day extension where permitted by law.
6.3 Rights for residents of other US states
Residents of Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah, Texas, Oregon, Montana, Iowa, Tennessee, Indiana, Delaware, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Minnesota, Maryland, and other states with comprehensive privacy laws may have rights similar to those described above for California residents. To exercise any such right, please contact support@runclipd.co.
6.4 Rights for users outside the United States
If you are located in the United Kingdom, the European Economic Area, or another jurisdiction with data-protection laws, you may have additional rights, including the right to access, rectify, delete, restrict processing of, or port your personal data, and the right to object to processing or withdraw consent. Please contact support@runclipd.co to exercise any such right. Note that the Service is currently designed for use in the United States, and certain features may not be available outside the United States.
6.5 Tracking and "Do Not Track"
The Service does not use third-party cross-context behavioral advertising trackers. Browsers and mobile operating systems may transmit "Do Not Track" or "Global Privacy Control" signals; because we do not engage in tracking that these signals govern, our practices are unaffected by them.
7. Children's Privacy
The Service is intended for users aged 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are under 13, please do not use the Service or send us any information.
If we learn that we have collected information from a child under 13, we will delete that information promptly. If you are a parent or guardian and believe a child under 13 has provided information to the Service, please contact us at support@runclipd.co.
The Service may contain user-generated content posted by adults; minors should use the Service only with parental awareness.
8. International Users
The Service is operated from the United States. If you access the Service from outside the United States, your information will be transferred to, processed, and stored in the United States, where data-protection laws may differ from those of your country. By using the Service, you consent to that transfer.
9. Third-Party Services and Links
The Service contains links to and integrates with third-party services (TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, and others). This Privacy Policy does not apply to those services. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of any third-party service you interact with.
10. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top and, for material changes, provide additional notice (such as an in-app notice or email). Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect means you accept the updated Privacy Policy.
